UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres says Gaza is experiencing the “worst level of death and destruction” he has seen in his lifetime, Al Jazeera reports. Guterres calls on the international community not to be “intimidated” by Israel.

As Israel’s military continues to heavily bombard war-battered Gaza, nearly half of Gaza City’s population, about 450,000 people, have fled the main urban centre since Israel launched its major assault to seize it in August, the civil defence agency says.

According to Al Jazeera, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed 65,208 people and wounded 166,271 since October 2023. Thousands more are believed to be buried under the rubble. A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7 attacks, and about 200 taken captive.
